Clash Heroes is one of the three games from Supercell that’s been in the works since 2021. This is a different approach from the usual strategy titles that Supercell drops, as this will be an ActionAdventure game. Players embark on a journey donning the role of a hero who leads an army into battle against other players and enemy factions. Unique aspects of the game will create a major impact on the audience, and Clash Heroes might be looking for the same that fans will remember for a long time.

Clash Heroes introduces a new world of Clash Universe

The game features a unique combination of real-time strategy and action-packed combat. The game is developed in Unreal Engine, which means in the future, we might be getting fully-fledged Clash Universe scenarios without a drop in quality as we see the Archers, Barbarians, etc. in action. The Arena is the place where players engage in battle. The arena could be of terrains and mountains as seen in the game.

Following a gameplay style similar to Brawl Stars, a top-down approach, we see heroes battling out in the arena with a lot of emphases given to the moves and the way the player executes them. Having two types of moves for a hero having one as a special one, it’ll allow users to use them accordingly and in scenarios where you have powerful enemies. Heroes play a crucial role in fast-paced battles, as they can turn the tide of battle with their powerful abilities.

Gameplay of Clash Heroes

Playing with friends also is something gamers like, and Clash Heroes allows the players to take down enemy factions with their team. Customization options are beneficial for the players to change the look of their favorite hero into something stylish or dapper that would look cool in the game. So, what else is going to make this Supercell title a hit?

Action-based games connect faster and Clash Heroes could be the next

Who doesn’t love action games? Most of the popular games are of the action genre. With a lot of new games coming in the genre, it doesn’t take away the shine from the already existing games. The competition is high, but the distributed fanbase and the love of the genre make it safe to place your foot on if you are a Game Developer.

Clash Heroes’ particular focus isn’t only on the action elements the game has, but it also covers other aspects that a gamer would enjoy. It is not that hardcore action with too many bullets flying around, but on beautiful maps where the characters engage in duels. It becomes more fun with friends, and with a good gameplay experience, you’ll never know how time will pass.

Why we think Clash Heroes can be Supercell’s next big hit

The reason behind this is simple, after Brawl Stars, Supercell hasn’t seen a major hit because all their releases were similarly themed, and due to this, the developments had to be stopped. Falling prey to this was Clash Quest’s development halt since the game didn’t meet Supercell’s “high standards”. The other clash game, Clash Mini seems to be very made for a niche audience as auto-chess games are not preferred by the large audience.

The last one in this clash series, Clash Heroes shows decent potential. Although the gameplay is not something entirely new, it carries the old clash vibe (from what we could infer from the leaked details). Considering the game is bringing multiplayer and possibly coop features, it has all the elements to be the flagbearer for the Clash IP in the future. So Clash Heroes could be the key to opening the loot of success.

There can be other games rising the charts soon, with Squad Busters being in the works from Supercell. A gameplay similar to Brawl Stars, it also has those action elements that make it unique. It brings all the Supercell characters to the game, and the closed beta tests running live now. However, from the first impression of the game it does not feel like the same level of Clash Heroes. Once again, it shows that the makers are banking on the clash universe, and it can be their winning factor.

Supercell’s winning formula might include another ingredient

Supercell’s winning formula has been the strategy genre without a doubt. Clash of Clans has been immensely popular for the strategic elements packed with a punch of action, the idea behind it was very unique and that has been the key to its success.

Yes, Brawl Stars have been another out-of-the-box idea, and Clash Royale is also a differently designed tower defense game. All these names are part of the “List of successful games” book, but they all have something in common, the Characters.

Heroes in Clash Heroes
Image via Supercell

Supercell has managed to create a universe revolving around the characters first introduced in Clash of Clans. Since then, the Clash Universe has only expanded, and characters from the Clash Universe by Supercell appear in almost all games. It has been a popular strategy to introduce characters that can be used in any game from the company in the future.

This might seem repetitive, but it will be brilliant to see the same character featured in a strategy game and then in a different look, come live in an action game. It will allow each character to have their backstory, something which we won’t see in many games.

Customization is key

Clash of Clans and Clash Royale both allow customization at a pretty good level. Supercell MAKE campaign also allowed players to create custom skins for Brawl Stars. Following the same pattern is Clash Heroes, with many skins on offer which can be purchased via gems. This adds that uniqueness to a particular character and is essential in upping the overall approach. Although they have begun with limited characters, a lot of the locked skins are awesome.

For example, the Wizard can be customized from a magician to a trader or even a robot, and all it depends on what choice the player wants to have. The package this game offers as a whole is impressive and can make people turn heads. We wish to see more freedom on the designs, but we don’t have to stall the idea as Supercell might get it included too.

Character Customization in Clash Heroes

More arenas help to avoid the repetition of the scene and hence enhance the view of the game when you play it. Arena skins are also present in Supercell games throughout, which help in having a different feel each time. We might see come to the game during or after launch as the makers will be aiming to keep it for a better user experience.

Final Thoughts

Clash Heroes certainly has all the ingredients to be a hit among fans of the Supercell franchise and the strategy-action genre. The initial gameplay has been promising, and even though they’ve been lagging behind with the release, it is only a matter of time before we get this game in our hands. Only time will tell if it will reach the level of success of Supercell’s other games, but for now, the signs are really promising.

Established in 1999, Gameloft has to be one of the most renounced and celebrated names in the mobile gaming industry in the last decade or so with games such as Asphalt, N.O.V.A, Real Football, Gangstar Vegas, City Mania: Town Building, Brothers in Arms, Disney Magic Kingdoms under its belt. If you’ve been somewhat familiar with mobile gaming in the past decade you can’t deny the sheer volume and quality of Gameloft’s firm grip on the gaming industry. However, in recent times Gameloft isn’t as influential in the mobile gaming community and nor does it have its old shelf of honour to its name.

The reason for the slow decline of Gameloft or rather losing its well-earned throne isn’t something straightforward. That’s precisely why we’ll discuss the various factors behind Gameloft losing its throne in this how Gameloft is losing its grip on mobile games

The legacy of Gameloft

Gameloft is of the most graceful game developers in the early days of mobile gaming developing innovative and true to its nature games with minimal micro-transactions if at all and a strong ethical ground against having ads in-game. The famously described philosophy was – Why encourage our players to leave our games for a competitor?

Gameloft play store, Gameloft games, Gameloft games catalogue, Gameloft
Image via Gameloft

Every franchise they touched turned into gold be it N.O.V.A, Alpahalt, Brothers in Arms or Real Football. Gameloft’s ruling over the mobile gaming industry peaked around 2014-15 and they were the mobile gaming company, the untouchables, in the few numbers of developers that actually listened to the player base and made strategic changes accordingly, the undisturbed kings of the mobile gaming during that period of time

A new era treated Gameloft’s tactics differently

Gameloft made a brave and against-the-flow decision to keep ads out of their games. This is a respectable decision but the new era of mobile gaming treated this brave decision differently as Gameloft was denied a lot of profit from ads that other games enjoyed and so their budget definitely increases many times than Gameloft’s.

They kept firmness on their word but the clear indication was this type of business in the mobile games industry wasn’t sustainable anymore. However, having low profits and running on red did not stop Gameloft from keeping their word but that didn’t last very long as GAS (Gameloft Advertising Solutions) was formed to integrate ads into games.

The acquisition that brought a change

Gameloft was running on red and dilution of the rights was the only way. By the end of 2015 and the mid of 2016, Vivendi had acquired 95% of Gameloft which indeed saved the company but brought with it many differences in vision.

Nova-3
Image via Gameloft

Gameloft had to give into the modern trends of gaming to keep the lights on. The sequel to one of the best mobile games of last decade N.O.V.A 3, the much anticipated Nova Legacy turned out to be a bit disappointing for the fans. Lower graphical fidelity and a low focus on the campaign and comparatively a bigger number of microtransactions contributed to the game becoming less attractive and appealing to the old audience.

However, in the next games under Vivendi’s acquisition, Gameloft did maintain the quality that they used to and all things seemed alright til then.

The rapidly changing industry affected Gameloft

Gameloft always made premium games that mostly ended up being not free to play and had a proper focus on the campaign, something we don’t see these days often. However, as the mobile gaming industry moved towards free-to-play games with battle passes and in-game purchases that ranged from cosmetic to gameplay effective, Gameloft’s premium games stopped getting the attention and throne they were used to. The sales started to see a downward spiral which made the mobile giants a bit more uncomfortable and unsure to develop other premium games.

Abandonment of fan favourites

As the sales numbers started to drop Gameloft halted updating its fan-favourite Game’s updates for a long time which was years at a time. In this competitive mobile gaming era, constant updates and the addition of season-specific events are the things that keep gamers engaged and keep the player base intact.

Gameloft-Game-Classics
Image via Gameloft

Therefore a huge gap between updates can be something of a bummer for most gamers. One of the best games ever on mobile N.O.V.A 3 isn’t supported on modern devices anymore due to a lack of compatibility updates which makes the state of Gameloft even more concerning and makes Gameloft lose its grip on the mobile gaming industry.

Is there a way of redemption for Gameloft

Things do not seem as bright as it was for Gameloft anymore, however, recently Gameloft has started bringing new updates to games that weren’t updated for a year or longer. The latest release from Gameloft namely Heroes of the Dark seems to be a decent and modern addition to the mobile gaming catalogue of Gameloft and did receive a lot of positive reviews on the Play Store with a solid gameplay loop. The steps Gameloft has been taking recently seem to be in the right direction which makes the old fans of the mobile gaming giants all the more hopeful once again.

Gameloft play store, Gameloft games, Gameloft games catalogue, Gameloft
Image via Gameloft

Gameloft still shows that they have the quality they had before with a new code of modern pain and a shiny new game Gameloft might be on the track to still compete with other mobile gaming giants.

Conclusion

The sky-high ups and lows of Gameloft are pretty apparent in this discussion of how Gameloft is losing its grip on mobile gaming. However, the loose grips can be restored with more focused and regular updates, redeeming some old IPs that were lost in transition and now aren’t playable on modern devices. The quality that Gameloft maintains in all of its games is something to get inspired from but the refusal to change with time had cost the mobile gaming giants big time and the recovery seems to be on the way.

To wrap this up, we’d like to reiterate that the premium quality and campaign modes as signature features in Gameloft games are still missed to this day and the return of those games definitely for the majority would be a welcome one.

Clash Royale and Clash of Clans are two of the most popular mobile strategy games available today. Both games feature unique gameplay mechanics and troop compositions. Many of the cards are available for both games, but some cards in Clash Royale could be interesting additions to Clash of Clans.
In this article, we will list out 11 cards from Clash Royale that could potentially be interesting troops, if released in Clash of Clans.

Top 11 cards in Clash Royale can make good Clash of Clans troops

Electro Wizard

The Bandit can dash forward and avoid any incoming attacks for a short period which can help avoid attacks from the enemy’s defences. A Bandit could be deployed to take out an enemy Archer Queen, quickly closing the distance and dealing a powerful strike before the Queen has a chance to deal much damage to your troops.

Executioner

Ever since Nahida, the Dendro Archon was released in version 3.2, she has been a staple of almost every Dendro team. An overwhelming majority of players swear by her personal DMG and team utility. She is nigh irreplaceable once players realize what she is capable of. But why is the case? This article will try to uncover the reasons why Nahida is considered one of the most broken characters with the onset of the Sumeru Update in Genshin Impact. Initially, we will look at a C0 Nahida and later we will discuss the added benefits of her constellations.

Nahida in Genshin Impact: Chaining Dendro Reactions

Released in the Sumeru Update in Genshin Impact, Nahida and her elemental skill can mark up to 8 enemies and they become linked, which makes it quite broken. When at least one of the marked enemies takes DMG from Dendro cores (including Burgeon and Hyperbloom), Nahida will unleash Tri-Karma Purification (TKP) on ALL marked enemies. TKP is one instance of Dendro DMG and it can also generate particles.

Genshin Impact Nahida guide

All Dendro reactions require enemies to maintain a Dendro aura to be reacted with. There are very few characters who can apply Dendro in small intervals for a long duration to allow this to happen. Dendro Traveller’s burst is capable of doing this, albeit just within a circle. Collei’s burst is also capable of doing this, but in an even smaller circle for a shorter duration. None of them come close to Nahida’s ability to consistently apply Dendro from off-field.

First of all, Nahida’s Dendro application is not tied to her burst, which makes it instantly available. Second of all, her skill has a very short cooldown (6s max) and the mark lasts for a very long time (25s). This guarantees permanent Dendro aura uptime on all marked enemies.

Genshin Impact Sumeru Update Nahida Broken
Image via HoYoverse

All of these factors combined make Nahida very efficient at chaining Dendro reactions in Genshin Impact and thus, somewhat prove that she is broken.

Bloom

Genshin Impact Nahida Broken
Image via HoYoverse

Bloom is Dendro + Hydro. Dendro needs to be applied first because if Hydro is applied first, the Dendro trigger will consume all of the Hydro aura and create fewer Blooms. So when Nahida applies Dendro and Hydro is applied to create Blooms, TKP will be unleashed when the Blooms explode and Dendro will be reapplied. This way we never have to worry about Dendro aura as long as the mark exists and continue applying Hydro.

Hyperbloom

Hyperbloom is when Electro is applied to Blooms. This reaction has insane single-target DMG and currently, it is one of the best reactions, period. Because of the way Nahida’s burst works, having an Electro teammate will decrease the TKP trigger interval and Dendro will be reapplied even more frequently.

Spread/Aggravate

Spread/Aggravate is Dendro + Electro + Dendro/Electro. When Dendro and Electro react for the first time, affected enemies enter the Quicken state. This is similar to Freeze in the sense that the reaction itself does not DMG but puts the enemy in a new state. Denro or Electro can be applied to Quickened enemies to trigger Spread and Aggravate respectively. Spread/Aggravate is a Flat DMG increase to the instance of Dendro/Electro DMG that triggers it. This DMG scales off the trigger character’s ATK, DMG bonus, CRIT, etc. It works the same way as Shenhe and Yun Jin’s buffs.

TKP ensures that Aggravate is triggered easily by constantly reapplying Dendro. And because of the way Nahida’s burst works, having multiple Electro teammates will even further decrease the TKP trigger interval and help trigger more Spreads and Aggravates.

Nahida’s weapon type: Blessing

The best thing about catalyst users is that they can apply their respecting element just by using normal attacks. Dendro is one of the best elements in Genshin Impact because of its strong reactions. Nahida is already the best Dendro applicator due to her elemental skill, but her normal attacks inherently being infused by Dendro make her even better. Unlike most catalyst users, her normal attacks hit enemies in a line and it is possible to hit multiple enemies. Her charged attack has a much larger AOE than other catalyst users. This makes an on-field Nahida playstyle extremely viable.

Dual Scaling is the best type of Scaling

Most DMG in Genshin Impact scales off one stat like ATK/HP/EM. While building a character, there is always going to be some completely useless stats. An ATK-scaling character like Xiao will not benefit from any HP whatsoever. Similarly, an HP-scaling scaling character like Yelan will not benefit from any ATK. There are characters like Hu Tao and Kamisato Ayato whose base DMG is ATK-scaling but they receive a DMG bonus based on HP. This additional scaling is always helpful since there are fewer wasted stats.

Genshin Impact Sumeru Update Nahida Broken dual scaling
Image via HoYoverse

Then there are hybrid scaling characters like Albedo and Kokomi. In addition to ATK, parts of their kits scale off DEF and HP, respectively. This makes it difficult to build these kinds of characters. Hybrid scaling is the worst type of scaling since neither stat will be properly built and they will never reach their maximum potential. Additional scalings like Hu Tao and Ayato are significantly better than single scaling, while hybrid scaling is the worst type of scaling. But the best type of scaling is dual scaling.

Nahida’s TKP DMG scales of both ATK and EM at the same time. Ideally, she would be built with as much EM as possible, but she will still have around 1k ATK. On any other character, this ATK would be useless, but Nahida can benefit from it due to the nature of her DMG scaling. She Could also benefit from any external source of ATK buffs like Pyro Resonance or Bennett. This dual scaling on her skill further increases her already amazing DMG potential.

Self-buff

Genshin Impact Sumeru Update Nahida Broken self buff
Image via HoYoverse

Since Nahida’s build usually revolves around EM, she would lack in CRIT stats. To mitigate this, one of her Ascension passives grants TKP a DMG bonus and CRIT Rate buff based on her EM. At this point, she is triple scaling with EM.

Buffing teammates

Buffing teammates
Image via HoYoverse

In addition to her amazing personal DMG and insane Dendro application, she also provides a buff to her teammates. Her burst grants the active character inside the Shrine of Maya a maximum of 250 EM. This is significantly helpful for Bloom/Hyperbloom/Burgeon teams. Bloom/Hyperbloom/Burgeon DMG only scales off the triggering character’s level and EM. getting an EM bonus from Nahida boosts their DMG even further.

Additional off-field DMG

Nahida’s mark affects enemies that are not even being directly attacked in the first place. Suppose, you enter an enemy camp and immediately mark all enemies. Then you proceed to attack the biggest enemy in the camp and defeat it. Chances are, by the time you defeat the biggest enemy in the camp, the rest are also dead because of the consistent triggering of TKP. There is no need to group enemies to be able to hit them all at once. This is yet another convenient thing about her skill.

Genshin Impact: Benefits of Constellations to Nahida (C2 is a game changer)

Nahida is a fully functioning unit at C0, but her constellations do a bit of both: increasing her personal DMG as well as buffing her teammates better. Released during the Sumeru Update, Nahida is broken in Genshin Impact.

  • C1 allows her burst to have all 3 buffs active even if there is no character of that corresponding element present in the team. For example, there will likely be no Pyro character in an Aggravate team, but the buff for having a Pyro character in the team will be activated nonetheless.
  • C2 is the best constellation for both her personal DMG as well as team buffing. Usually, Blooms (including Burgeon/Hyperbloom) cannot Crit. Nahida’s C2 makes them able to Crit, even though the Crit Rate and DMG are fixed, it is still a huge increase in the total average DMG. This constellation also decreases enemies’ DEF which is another helpful buff to have.
c2
Image via HoYoverse
  • C4 grants Nahida an EM buff based on the number of enemies marked by her skill, up to 4. This is largely unnecessary since she can easily reach 1000 EM with EM-EM-EM artifacts and an EM substat weapon.
  • C6 turns Nahida into a temporary burst DPS like Raiden Shogun. It allows her to frontload a lot of DMG in a short amount of time after using her burst. But unlike Raiden Shogun, the rest of Nahida’s kit does not support a Hypercarry playstyle. The maximum amount of DMG in the Raiden Hypercarry team comes from Raiden Shogun herself, but Nahida teams are built around elemental reactions, not personal DMG. Therefore, Nahida’s temporary burst DPS window does not make her DMG a significant portion of the team’s total DMG.

Final Thoughts

Nahida is an example of what a perfectly designed character in Genshin Impact is supposed to be like.

  • Her abilities have permanent uptime.
  • Her Dendro application is unparalleled.
  • Her abilities work while off-field.
  • She grants excellent buffs to herself and her teammates.

As long as the team utilizes Dendro reactions, there are absolutely no downsides to including Nahida in the team. In most cases, Nahida is the best Dendro character available to fulfil a role in Genshin Impact. The ability of Nahida to enable Dendro reactions and buffing teammates is what makes her absurdly broken in Genshin Impact.

Clash Royale features an exciting mix of collectable card game elements and tower defence gameplay.
While Clash Royale has a vast array of cards and strategies available to players, there are certain cards in the game that could benefit from a rework. These cards are often underused, or too situational to justify including in a deck. Here are 8 cards in Clash Royale that could benefit from a rework. This is based on their performance in the game and the feedback from the community.

Cards that need a rework in Clash Royale

1. Wizard

The Wizard has received multiple nerfs over time. While it is a powerful ranged unit that deals splash damage, it has struggled to find a place in the game due to its high cost and falls short compared to other cards in the same elixir range, such as the Electro Wizard, the Musketeer, or the Executioner.

Its low hit points and vulnerability to swarm troops can make it an easy target for opponents. Increasing its hit points or damage output could make it a more compelling option. Reducing its cost could also make it easier to fit into a deck.

2. Rascals

While it is a unique card that combines a ranged and melee unit, it is often considered a “dead card” by many players. This is due to its underwhelming performance in battles. One of the main issues with the Rascals card is its high cost i.e. 5 elixirs compared to its low damage output. It can be easily countered by many cheap cards. Its limited range which was nerfed to 0.8 tiles makes it difficult to use effectively in battles. It falls short against air troops and swarm troops.

Rascals
Image via Supercell

Increasing the Rascal Boy’s range so it can counter swarm cards effectively and increasing the Rascal Girl’s hit points and damage rate could make it a more compelling option for attacking and defending as the log can take out the girls at once.

3. Barbarian Barrel

A spell card that deploys a barrel containing a single Barbarian. Despite being two elixirs, its usage rate is relatively low compared to other spells in the game, such as the Log. Players often prefer to use other spell cards, such as the Arrows or the Zap. They can be more effective in dealing with swarm troops, goblin barrels, and other threats.

Clash Royale Rework Cards
Image via Supercell

Barbarian Barrels can be useful for taking out low to medium-hit-point troops. But most of the players use the log as the range and width of the log are 10.1 tiles and 3.9 tiles respectively as compared to 4.5 tiles and 2.6 tiles of Barbarian barrel. A potential reboot could be to increase its range and width.

4. Skeleton Dragon

The Skeleton Dragon card in Clash Royale is a flying troop that can be useful for taking out ground troops and buildings. However, compared to other flying troops such as the Baby Dragon(4 elixirs) or the Minions(3 elixirs), its usage rate is relatively low. To increase the Skeleton Dragon’s viability, a potential reboot would be to increase the Skeleton Dragon’s hitpoints and damage rate.

Skeleton Dragon
Image via Supercell

Currently, its damage per second is relatively low 1.9 sec, and it struggles to take out higher hit-point troops quickly. By increasing its damage output, the Skeleton Dragon could become a more potent attacker. The next change could be reducing its elixir cost to 3 for the fast cycle.

5. Barbarian Hut

The Barbarian Hut is a building card in Clash Royale that spawns Barbarians at regular intervals. While it can be a useful defensive structure, its usage rate is relatively low compared to other building cards like the Goblin Hut or the Tombstone.

Clash Royale Rework Cards
Image via Supercell

One possible way to make the card stronger would be to increase the spawn rate of the Barbarian Hut. Currently, it spawns Barbarians every 15 seconds, which can be too slow to keep up with fast-moving troops or large swarms of enemies as compared to goblin hut which spawns goblins every 11 seconds. By decreasing the spawn time to 12 or 11 seconds, the Barbarian Hut could become a more potent defensive structure.

Another possibility could be to adjust the Barbarian Hut’s cost. Currently, it costs 6 elixirs, which can be relatively expensive for a building card, which is a major reason many players opt for goblin hut which cost 5 elixirs.

6. Witch

Witch Card
Image via Supercell

The Witch card is an interesting troop that spawns skeletons and fires bolts of magic to attack enemies. Although it can be a useful card in some situations, it has a low usage rate now compared to other cards.
A potential reboot would be to add a unique ability to the Witch. For example, it could be given the ability to spawn other stronger creatures once a certain number of skeletons are on the battlefield. This would create a strategic element in terms of managing the number of skeletons that are spawned.

7. Minion Horde

Minion Horde
Image via Supercell

The Minion Horde is a powerful air unit in Clash Royale that consists of six Minions. Despite its highly powerful defence, the Minion Horde has a low usage rate in competitive play due to its vulnerability to spells and splash damage like a fireball, arrows and even zap can take them out with the help of the princess tower.

Minion Hordes which cost 5 elixirs can be countered easily by 2 elixir card zap, they can also be countered by a wizard in one go. Therefore, one reboot could be to increase the hitpoints, so they can still be left with some health after being hit by arrows. Another could be to reduce the cost to four elixirs.

8. Hunter

Clash Royale Rework Cards
Image via Supercell

The Hunter is a 4-elixir cost shotgun-wielding card that can deal massive damage at close range, making it a powerful card against tanks and high-health units. However, the usage rate is low because of its low damage for a longer range, which makes it vulnerable to long-range cards like Baby dragon.
Increasing Hunter’s range slightly would allow it to attack from a safer distance. Alternatively, by increasing its attack speed it can easily counter-swarm troops.

Conclusion

In conclusion, whether it’s adjusting the card’s stats, reducing its cost, or increasing its versatility, a reboot could breathe new life into these cards and make them more appealing to players. The development team at Supercell continually works on balancing and updating the game, and it will be interesting to see if any of these cards receive a reboot in the future.

Splinter Cell is an enormous and at the same time excellent game franchise that almost single-handedly set the bar for modern stealth-based tactical games developed by Ubisoft. Splinter Cell first made its appearance in the gaming industry in 2002 and has seen only progression in terms of popularity and quickly became mainstream and the go-to stealth game franchise for many especially Black List and Conviction were graphical showcases in their time and still do hold up till date. Ubisoft just announced that they’re bringing their IPs namely Assassin’s Creed and Rainbow Six Siege and The Division to mobile so this makes it high time to release a Splinter Cell mobile port. Splinter Cell deserves a mobile port especially now due to more than a few reasons which we’ll discuss in this Why Splinter Cell mobile game now would make perfect sense article.

The legacy of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell

Splinter Cell has to be Ubisoft’s most if not the most innovative and critically acclaimed series that most famously defined what stealth games are capable of and what makes stealth enjoyable. Splinter Cell’s sleek set pieces effortless gunplay and addictive yet satisfying and challenging combat made the experience unparalleled to its contemporaries. Splinter Cell has never seen a rough game in the series, they’re always known to have great mechanics and a creative yet enjoyable storyline.

The sudden drought in the life of Sam Fisher

In the past few years, Ubisoft seems to be all caught up in its magnum opuses franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry and Splinter Cells seem to have taken a backseat. It’s been almost a decade since the release of Splinter Cell had a game in its remarkable franchise namely Splinter Cell Blacklist.

Although the games were fairly successful the series encountered a halt. Splinter Cell has a very dedicated and passionate fan base that would love to see a new addition to the franchises and that’s why a new entry in the series launching on the platform that has the most number of users wouldn’t be ideal for the console and PC fans but definitely would be warmly welcomed by the whole fanbase.

Splinter Cell on mobile can be really interesting

Splinter Cell fits into the mobile gaming space pretty effortlessly, as the stealth mechanics of the main gain the short storylines and the different outfits, the iconic night vision goggles are a recipe waiting to be cooked deliciously and served hotly on the massive table that is mobile gaming.

Many players have already tried to play the GameCube version on their mobile devices, while we don’t support playing a game in any way that’s not meant to but this just shows how much a mobile release in the Splinter Cell franchise is something the fanbase is already craving for and is just waiting to be a huge success.

The current landscape of Mobile Gaming is perfect for a Splinter Cell port

Mobile gaming has been evolving for the past decade and more and doesn’t look to halt anytime soon, as the technology progresses the specs of mobile devices reach a whole new level even better than most of the handhelds or consoles the original Splinter Cell game and the follow-up game released on.

All-Splinter-Cell-Games

This type of advanced mobile gaming landscape makes perfect sense for a AAA console and PC game to be released on mobile that actually looks good enough to attract the console or PC players either by mechanics or portability and name and the amount of storage available on mobiles also will somewhat clean up the storage restrictions Ubisoft could’ve faced with this project a few years earlier.

The Splinter Cell would mostly fit into a more premium campaign-style game usually seen in the old Gameloft games and a nice short story would be enough to bring in all the fans and make the sales that Ubisoft might expect from a project like Splinter Cell mobile port. The increased RAM in modern mobile devices would also help a lot to process if Ubisoft decides to go on a more narrative-heavy route which as we discussed would fit the Splinter cell franchise the most.

Ubisoft’s recent announcements make the timing perfect

Ubisoft has announced recently that they’re going to port most of their IPs to their mobile including mammoths in the gaming industry such as Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege, and The Division. This scenario makes the set all set for a Splinter Cell port and especially if Ubisoft is able to rekindle once again the lightning in a bottle that they did about two decades ago.

Division Resurgence, Tom Clancy's Division Resurgence
Image via Ubisoft

Ubisoft is getting ready to cash in on this mobile gaming industry with the port of some of the most played game franchises of Ubisoft and if that lineup is joined by Splinter Cell this would make the profits go only upwards and overall this would just make sense for Ubisoft as they’re looking for a portal to dominate the mobile gaming industry.

Conclusion

Splinter Cell is one of the most influential titles ever in the gaming industry and the comeback of the same with a new mobile twist will be something we’ll very much anticipate. To conclude this why a Splinter Cell mobile game would make perfect sense article it’s very important to acknowledge that with all of these advantages that we’ve discussed a Splinter Cell mobile port looks to be a possibility and a very welcome one from most of the gaming community.

With all these Ubisoft original IP mobile ports on the way even if Ubisoft decides to work on a Splinter Cell mobile port that might take a while but regardless with the ever-evolving mobile space this wouldn’t be an issue with any advantages discussed above, however, if the aforementioned Ubisoft mobile ports bring in the numbers that Ubisoft is expecting then there’s a strong chance of a Splinter Cell mobile port however the Splinter Cell IP would be the most comfortable with a campaign-style rather than the standard online shooter approach.

EA Sports had previously announced that in the Summer of 2023, they will release a brand new franchise titled EA Sports FC. This is because EA Sports have confirmed they are parting ways in their partnership with FIFA. This means FIFA 23 and the current 2023 season of FIFA Mobile are the last editions in their subsequent franchises, as EA will no longer have the right to use the FIFA name in their game titles. While this cannot be changed, few companies have a great opportunity to grab this chance of getting the FIFA license.

EA losing the license might be somebody else’s gain

For EA, this marks the start of a new era – the EA Sports FC era. For FIFA themselves though, there is something else coming together under the radar. In an official statement, FIFA president, Gianni Infantino said: “I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans. The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on – the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain the best.”

The FIFA videogame brand will continue as it has been, just not under EA Sports as publisher. But if EA is not the one working on FIFA anymore, then who is? FIFA is reportedly engaging with publishers, studios, and investors on the development of a new simulation football title for 2024. There are a few different candidates who could step up to take the FIFA license, and each could take their spin on the game, as we’ll be discussing in this article.

10 Companies that can get the FIFA License

We’ll discuss the ten companies that have a great opportunity to grab the FIFA License.

1. KONAMI

KONAMI in the year 2022 rebranded their football series from Pro Evolution Soccer to eFootball. Now free-to-play on all platforms, the game focuses on immersive and competitive gameplay and is currently focused on its Dream Team mode, which is sort of like FIFA’s Ultimate Team mode. Konami also has Master League in their roadmap, which shares a resemblance with FIFA’s Career Mode.

For years, Konami has always been the only real competitor to EA Sports. Ever since Konami switched to eFootball and had that dumpster fire of a first release, EA appeared to have a significant advantage. Konami could step up now that FIFA is looking for someone else to take over their license.

They have enough resources at their disposal and their games already share a resemblance with EA’s series as well. With official FIFA licensing, we could potentially see a surge in popularity for eFootball. One thing Konami has always lacked is real names and licenses to clubs and competitions. Although patches have made it possible, eFootball still lacks that overall punch.

Aside from that, Konami has most of the foundations all ready to take the FIFA name themselves. Out of all the potential candidates, Konami is arguably best suited but if they would be interested is another question, considering they have just rebranded their franchise recently.

2. Take-Two Interactive/2K Sports

2K are the ones behind popular franchises such as NBA 2K, WWE 2K, and PGA 2K. In the past, they have also worked on NHL 2K and MLB 2K. It is evident from the range of different sports covered that 2K is always looking to widen its horizons and tap into different markets. With that said, what market is bigger than that of football?

Perhaps a link-up between 2K and FIFA is a bit of a reach. Speaking to IGN before Take-Two’s quarterly earnings call, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of 2K’s Parent company, Take Two, said “We’re definitely interested in expanding our opportunities in sports and FIFA has a great brand and incredible clout but we have no current plans to discuss”.

Image via NBA 2K

Perhaps there is no movement at the moment, but it’s worth noting that FIFA plan to release their new game in 2024, so we can’t write 2K off completely. Currently, EA Sports FIFA is leaning a lot more towards the Ultimate Team aspect, and there is only so much more to do with this mode before it starts to get stale.

Since Gianni Infantino mentioned the words “real” and “authentic“, we could see the new FIFA starting from scratch and going for realism instead, which could be in the form of immersive player/manager career modes, or something similar to The Journey a few years ago. If there is one developer group that is best known for its immersive single-player sports simulation, it would be 2K, as we have seen with the MyPlayer career in NBA 2K or the showcase modes in WWE 2K.

3. Activision Blizzard

With such little information surrounding the future of the FIFA license, it’s difficult to write anyone off. Activision merged with Blizzard in 2008 and has since become one of the largest video game companies in the world. They specialize in the eSports sector, having produced competitive titles like Call of Duty and Overwatch.

Warcraft mobile details, Activision NYCERS lawsuit, Activision Blizzard sexual harassment lawsuit, Activision 2022 financial
Image via Activision Blizzard

A football series is a stretch for a company that has had little relation to sports. However, if FIFA is looking to go down the competitive path, then a partnership with Activision would be a good way to do that. A FIFA World Cup in eSports could be very interesting, and Activision Blizzard’s experience with eSports means they could be one of the best candidates to set something up.

A FIFA license would look great on Activision Blizzard’s portfolio too, but the question is, would the company be willing to invest in another big project like this?

4. Tencent Games

The split between EA Sports and FIFA would surely have got Tencent thinking of potential ideas. Tencent is one of the biggest companies in China, and they are known to have a stake in big companies, such as ownership of Riot Games (developers of League of Legends and Valorant) and a minority stake in Epic Games (developers of Fortnite). Tencent has been active in the mobile industry as well and has contributed to games like PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile.

Perhaps Tencent could do something similar to Call of Duty Mobile, and develop a mobile port of FIFA. The mobile games industry is rapidly growing, as is the number of football games on mobile as well. Konami’s eFootball and EA’s FIFA Mobile (which will likely get a name change) are joined with others like First Touch Games’ Dream League Soccer and NetEase’s upcoming title, Vive le Football. If FIFA wants to bring something to mobile, a partnership with Tencent would be a good opportunity to do so.

5. NetEase Games

NetEase is a big presence in the mobile games industry, and is the one behind games like Dead by Daylight Mobile, Marvel Super War, and Lord of the Rings: Rise to War. They also have a football title in the works too, named Vive le Football. First announced two years ago on January 2021, the progress is slow, and this appears to be continuing for another year.

Vive Le Football beta test, vive le football release
Image via NetEase

This will be Netease’s attempt at challenging eFootball Mobile and FIFA Mobile. If Netease were to strike a deal for the FIFA license though, that would reinforce their chances of tackling this market. They already have a game modeled and are ready to do that too.

Similar to Tencent Games, a partnership with Netease would likely be a more mobile-focused one. Of course, this deal would lie on Netease’s decision on rebranding Vive le Football which is due to release soon. Perhaps they could develop a separate game, though that may become a conflict of interest.

6. SEGA

SEGA has already established itself in the football video games market but in a different way than what others like EA and Konami have done. Their long-running Football Manager series runs on a yearly release schedule and has also found its way to other platforms like mobile and console.

Football Manager 2023 Cover, Football Manager 2023 pre-registrations, Football Manager 2023 available
Image via SEGA

Football Manager is very much focused on the technical side of football, which is a menu-based game where plays assume the role of managers, making decisions on transfers, tactics, etc.

Gianni Infantino did mention the words “Authentic” and “Real“. Could this hint literally at an authentic simulation experience like Football Manager? However, if FIFA wants to seriously come back to the market with a new game to challenge what will be EA Sports FC next year, a niche title like Football Manager is probably not the way to do that.

7. Ubisoft

This often goes unnoticed, but Ubisoft had made a football game before, titled Pure Football which was released back in 2010. Pure Football was an arcade-like game focusing more on fast-paced and end-to-end football.

Pure Football by Ubisoft
Pure Football didn’t live up to the expectations (Image via Ubisoft)

At that time, Ubisoft was facing off against the monopoly set out by EA’s FIFA, and Konami was already busy chasing that. It would have been very difficult for Ubisoft to get an audience and ultimately, they failed on this part after receiving negative views from critics.

With an official partnership with FIFA, Ubisoft could venture back into this genre. They are one of the most well-known names in the video games industry on multiple platforms, with big series like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. A football series would stray away from Ubisoft’s usual theme but it would certainly help their position in the industry if they pull it off well.

8. Com2uS

Com2uS is a Korean-based company predominantly working with mobile games. They are the ones behind titles like MLB 9 Innings and NBA Now, with both being officially licensed as well. It would not be too surprising if Com2uS managed to secure official licensing from FIFA as well, considering they have worked with similar projects already.

Com2uS games
Image via Com2uS

As this would be a mobile-specific deal, FIFA would be able to switch things up and take a different approach in a different market. NBA Now is a casual arcade-like experience featuring one-handed gameplay, whilst MLB 9 Innings follows more of a competitive theme.

A collaboration between Com2uS and FIFA would provide an opportunity to introduce something new to the mobile platform. In FIFA’s goal of creating an “authentic” and “real experience,” a standalone mobile title would make little sense. Nonetheless, it’s difficult to dismiss anything at this point.

9. Strikerz Inc.

Strikerz Inc. is a newcomer to the football simulation space and is set to release UFL this year, a brand new free-to-play football game for PC and console. The game promises a “fair-to-play” model where the focus is all on competitive skill, rather than squad-building with pay-to-play features.

UFL cover
Image via UFL

They have already established partnerships with clubs like West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen, as well as player ambassadors like Kevin De Bruyne and Roberto Firmino. The point is, these guys look serious, and this competitive game could get a good audience.

Since they are new to the scene, it’s unlikely that an official partnership with FIFA is finalized so soon. However, depending on how UFL is received by the public, Strikerz Inc could well be in the discussion.

10. Xbox Games Studio

The Xbox Game Pass subscription is becoming increasingly popular due to its ever-increasing roster of games. They’ve also got quite a few sports games as well, such as UFC, F1, and even Football Manager: Xbox Edition. An officially licensed FIFA title would be a fantastic addition to Xbox, without a doubt.

Xbox Games Studio is one of the frontrunners for FIFA License
Image via Xbox Games Studio

The only issue is, Microsoft would almost certainly try to push for exclusivity for Xbox which would turn out great on their part. It would limit the audience for FIFA massively though, and that is something FIFA would try to avoid.

Final Thoughts

If the FIFA license is obtained, all of the companies listed will benefit greatly. This is a fantastic opportunity for the big names to become even more well-known and to join the football governing body. However, the question remains whether they will be able to capitalize on this opportunity. Without a doubt, FIFA is looking for suitors for their brand in games, and the best offer may seal the license deal.

In terms of reach and demand, KONAMI appears to be the most in need of this, as most parts of the game remain unlicensed, making players hesitant because they won’t be getting the full real-life football experience. In terms of publicity, the others mentioned may have a good chance to improve their market standing.

While a few of them do not currently have a football title in development, the possibility of having this deal may give birth to new football game projects. Of course, the most popular sport in the world requires more and better titles, and what we really want is to get more football games and play them on our devices.

For a while now, we’ve had some interesting subscription services pop up for mobile. And the key players here are Netflix Games, which comes for no extra cost with your regular Netflix subscription, Google Play Pass, which gives you access to a bunch of paid titles only for a small monthly or yearly fee and then Apple Arcade, which has exclusive titles for those with a subscription. Perhaps for a change in the coming year, you could try out one of these if you haven’t already.

Why should you purchase a subscription service

List of mobile gaming subscription services with prices

  • Google Play Pass: For getting hold of the Google Play Pass, subscribers need to pay $5 per month or around $30 per year.
  • Apple Arcade: To play the exclusive Apple Arcade games, interested people have to pay $5 per month or $50/per year.
  • Netflix Games: Netflix Games offers three plans for its subscribers, which are namely, Basic, Standard, and Premium. The monthly subscription charges are $9.99 per month, $15.99 per month and $19.99 per month respectively.

The simple answer to this, of course, is the value for money. Netflix Games, which comes at no extra cost (meaning you get games and your favourite movies and shows in one package), gives you access to over 40 exclusive games like Hextech Mayhem, Into the Dead 2: Unleashed, Oxenfree, Asphalt Xtreme and a bunch of other titles, some of which are tie-ins with popular franchises like Stranger Things. Apple Arcade works similarly with exclusive titles that you wouldn’t be able to get your hands on otherwise, although this includes a small monthly fee after the initial first month is free.

Google Play Pass India
Image via Google Play

Finally, Google Play Pass, which is arguably the best deal here, gives you access to paid titles like Stardew Valley, Terraria, Star Wars: KOTOR, Old Man’s Journey, Thimbleweed Park, Limbo, and many others. Instead of paying the full price for these relatively costly titles, you could instead just pay a small amount towards the monthly service and get hundreds of games. Additionally, for free games covered by Play Pass, there are many special perks that only those with a subscription can have access to.

It all boils down to these services, despite slower starts in some cases, have managed to add a lot of content that is worth paying for. And in the case of something like Google’s Game Pass, you’re getting a lot of pricier titles for a more affordable price, with a very large game library and perks for being a member. In the case of Netflix Games and Apple Arcade, the exclusives are also pretty good and worth paying for.

mobile subscription services apple arcade
Image via Apple Arcade

Of course, it boils down to personal preference as some might prefer buying their games instead of paying for a service regularly since they do lose access if, at some point along the line, they decide to get rid of the service, however, these services do present a more economical option. All things considered, there are really not too many if any cons to one of these three at this point.

Final Thoughts

Those were the main points for why one of these gaming subscription services might suit you. Now trying these out is also one way to figure that out. Considering how cheap these are and the fact that Apple gives you the first month free and Netflix Games not charging you anything aside from what you pay for the actual Netflix subscription itself, checking them out yourself is pretty cheap and easy. All in all, Netflix, Google, and Apple have done a pretty good job at creating packages that are good options for players.

There has been an ongoing debate and controversy going on specifically with Genshin Impact newly released 4-star characters in the game. The 4-stars have been falling flat in terms of kit and damage compared to the 4-stars released in the pre-1.0 Version. Although some say that their kits are intended for future purposes, others claim that there is no hope for the 4-star characters to have the same level of greatness and potential as the launched characters. For now, we will be divulging the topic of this discussion and analysing the state of the 4-star characters released in Genshin Impact till Version 3.4.

Genshin Impact: Situation of 4-star characters (From Pre-Version 1.0 to 3.4 Update)

Genshin Impact Version 1.0 characters are carrying the meta

It is no surprise or brand new talk that some of the 4-star playable characters released in launch have consistently proved to be the bests units to have in the game. Characters like Xiangling, Bennett, Xingqiu, Fischl, and Sucrose are viable in the long run and even proved to outperform many 5-star characters released today.

Xiangling, Bennett, and Xingqiu in particular, are amazing Supports and even have their own special team comp together that is quite popular in the Genshin Impact community called the National Team. The fourth slot in this team is filled by a DPS unit that can consistently proc Elemental reactions with the three characters such as either Tartaglia or Raiden Shogun.

Other than that, characters excluding the names mentioned above can also be viable in teams. In short, Genshin Impact did not hesitate to provide great 4-star characters that can deal high amounts of damage, provide busted Support capabilities, and can be built as DPS units if push comes to shove.

Additionally, what makes these four-star characters so special is that their potential can still be utilized even with zero constellations. While many of these characters can unlock their full potential through constellations, it does not prove to be an essential or needed requirement to fulfill.

Genshin Impact: Post-Version 1.0 Update and their 4-star characters

After the launch of the game and the already pre-existing playable characters, Genshin Impact introduced two new 4 Star characters in Version 1.1 with Diona and Xinyan coming out on the same patch. Diona proved to be an excellent Cryo Support unit with her ability to generate a decent Cryo Shield, generate energy particles, and provide good healing to the party.

She is now popular in many Freeze teams such as Ayaka or Ganyu freeze comps, giving the party free Crit with the Cryo Resonance buff. Xinyan on the other hand had a more underwhelming hype with her having a split scaling to both defense and attack, making her difficult to build.

With saying that, one bad unit cannot be held into account, as the fresh new set of characters released after Diona and Yanfei proved to be amazing and viable characters. Rosaria and Yanfei did not disappoint with Rosaria acting as a great Sub-DPS and Yanfei being a great Pyro DPS in the team. All in all, the characters in these Versions of the post-1.0 Update showed their true capabilities and potential.

Genshin Impact: The 4-star characters in Post Version 2.0

The state of the previously shown 4-star characters released in post Version 1.0 Update in Genshin Impact includes Diona, Yanfei, and Rosaria being very good and viable units. It is no surprise that with Inazuma coming out on the horizon players had high expectations and hopes for the new set of 4-star characters showing the same capability. Unfortunately, that proved to be not the case.

Inazuma surfaced a brand-new batch of 4 stars that has a special twist to them. These new 4 stars are not particularly ‘bad’ per se, but rather function on a very niche basis in order to fully utilize their respective kit. Post 2.0 introduced 7 new 4-star characters, with one being from Liyue.

Characters such as Kujou Sara and Gorou seem to be underwhelming on a surface level, but they are very meticulously conditioned to work for specific characters and elements. For example, Sara is made to be an Electro Support that only buffs Electro DPS characters in the team, while Gorou only buffs Geo DPS characters that scale through Defense such as Itto or Noelle.

Although having said that, some of the characters that were shown to be underwhelming when released, have proved to show up to be viable units after the introduction of Dendro. For example, Shinobu who was ridiculed for her bad kit is now an amazing Electro support that can proc Dendro-related reactions, while also providing good healing. Additionally, Thoma received his own buff by being played in Burgeon-specific teams.

Genshin Impact: Downfall of Sumeru’s 4-star characters

Sumeru and the introduction to Dendro may seem to give rise and hope to have some interesting new 4-star characters that have their kit revolve around Dendro’s reactions. Those expectations were soon gone with the release of Collei and Dori in Version 3.0. It seems that HoYoverse has realized that they particularly messed up in providing such amazing 4-star units during the game’s launch, because now they seem to regress backward, by releasing awful 4-star characters in the game.

With the 2.0 Versions giving us niche and decent units, post 3.0 has given us poorly structured Support characters with underwhelming damage and kits. Each support released has several flaws in their kit that feel very deliberate in HoYoverse’s case. Collei’s Dendro application is bad and her damage is low, Dori’s role in the game is confusing seeing as how Shinobu can easily outperform her in several ways,

Candace has an underwhelming kit and low damage multipliers and Layla can also be outperformed by Diona alone. Faruzan on the other hand has amazing potential as she is introduced to be the first Anemo Support character in the game that buffs Anemo DPS units but her full potential is locked behind constellations, particularly in her last constellation.

Final Thoughts

We are halfway done with the game’s overall content and fans are doubtful about future 4-star releases, starting with the next region, Fontaine. Hoyoverse has clearly blundered with the mistake of making the 1.0 four-star characters undeniably good and is now back-tracking onto the newly-released 4 stars by making their kit either niche, low damage multipliers, Constellations heavy, or a watered-down version of 5-star characters.

Speaking of 5-stars, the overall bad kits of the 4-stars seem to be the cause of not power-creeping newly released limited 5-stars in the game and amplifying more reasons to pull for said 5-star characters. Overall, there may still be hope for these new 4-star characters, if their kits have a purpose that can be utilized in future versions in mind, such as in Shinobu’s case.

It is no surprise that there is an obvious bias towards the male demographic over the female demographic in Genshin Impact. The game is, after all, another typical Gacha game, where fanservice will be catered towards the male fans, by releasing a large variety of female characters that are ‘overly-revealing’. It also does not help with the fact that HoYoverse’s other Gacha games are mostly female characters orientated, such as Honkai Impact 3rd. Therefore, this article will be dissecting the age-old question, how do Genshin Impact treat their Male Characters in the game

From the Genshin Impact player base data collected from SensorTower, 45% of players are women while the rest of the 55% are men. This is surprisingly a well-balanced ratio, which is pretty rare to see in games, especially in a Gacha game, such as Genshin Impact. As such many fans, mostly the female side of the player base, have voiced out their opinions about how HoYoverse should consider and cater to them as well.

Biasness of treatment of Male characters vs Female characters

Genshin Impact: Male Character Designs and Models

The character designs for the male characters, especially the Tall Male Models, have been quite lacklustre. Some have criticized Arattaki Itto’s character model and expressed disappointment, due to a lack of muscles in his design. Itto has been described as a big and buff Oni from all the character stories and voice lines that have been said so far.

Many fans were therefore excited about his official character design, as they anticipated a burly muscular man. Imagine the surprise when his design dropped and his model in-game looked just the same as the other skinny tall male models.

Although, it seems like HoYoverse has seen the criticism and anger expressed by all the fans demanding defined muscular men, as Alhaitham has quite a different model from the rest of the playable tall male characters. From his in-game model, he has more defined muscles and Abs from the rest and it is hilariously different if compared with Itto, who is canonically muscular. Although the model feels like the bare minimum of buff, it is still the right step in the direction of male fan-service characters.

The Number of Male characters released in the game

A considerable number of leaks surfaced recently that revealed the future playable characters of Fontaine for Version 4.0 Update and after. It caught many people off guard as Fontaine is still many patches ahead and in early development. One of the leaks showed the line-up of characters to be released in the game.

From the line-up, it is leaked that there will be 1 Short Boy Model and 1 Tall Male Model. In total, only 2 male characters will be playable in Fontaine. Due to this, many female fans expressed anger and disappointment regarding this certain leak.

Although, it is still too early to jump to such a conclusion, as this is still a leak of the current data they have found. Fontaine is still in early development and there is room for more playable characters to be released in future versions of 4.0.

Additionally, there is a false narrative spreading around in the community that criticises how HoYoverse is barely releasing new 5-star male characters in the game. This is simply false and quite far from the truth if players see the previous Sumeru 5-star releases starting from 3.0.

As shown in the image, many of the recently released characters have been male characters. To put this into perspective, the female playable 5 stars is almost the exact same number as the male playable 5 stars. The only point that is debatable is the lack of male 4-star characters and a lack of male kids in the game.

So far, Inazuma alone released only 3 new 4-star male characters, with Sumeru having no new 4-star male characters, while there are six new 4-star female characters added to the game. Additionally, there are only female playable children, which is a very questionable choice in itself, since it’s obvious that they are catering to a certain male audience. Hence, the chances of a male kid being released in the future are slim.

Are Male Characters meta in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact is always bringing in a constant roster of playable characters to enhance the combat experience in the game. Due to this, there is an obvious meta-system in play, with many characters performing differently compared to the rest.

With saying that there has been a general argument in the community of the 5-star male characters not being as powerful and ‘META’ as the female characters. Fans have been coming up with conclusions that HoYoverse is obviously favouring female characters by making them deal high damage and giving them good kits, while male characters are always badly designed in terms of kit and damage.

While many of the top DPS are dominated by female characters, which involves the likes of Ayaka, Hu Tao, Ganyu, Raiden Shogun etc. While there may not be such a variety of power male DPS characters, the male supports have been pulling through in the game. Kazuha, Zhongli, Bennett and Xingqiu are the many examples of male characters that have consistently been in the highest tier for the sole fact of their amazing Support capabilities. The male DPS characters in reality are not as lacklustre and bad as people conceive them to be. Xiao, Tartaglia, Ayato, Itto, Wanderer etc have consistently been used in Spiral Abysses and can be 36-starred with the right builds alone.

Male Characters vs Female Characters in Genshin Impact: Character Lore and Personality

There has been an ongoing debate within the community about how well-received the story and lore are on both male and female characters. Many of them have fervently agreed that the male characters in Genshin Impact have a more interesting personality and lore, compared to the female characters that are claimed to be boring and mediocre, reducing them to characters with no depth.

This is, of course, factually wrong and the narrative seems to stem from, how the game favours the male characters in terms of giving them more lore-relevant limited events and storylines, compared to the female characters who are barely given a chance to shine.

Genshin Impact male characters lore
Image via HoYoverse

For example, HoYoverse has released many of their Limited Events that have either been very Lore heavy on some characters or others being very slice-of-life fun Events. Characters like Xiao and Albedo have been given chances to shine, by giving them Limited Events that are centred on their stories, such as the annual Dragonspine Events for Albedo and the Chasm Event for Xiao.

While in light-hearted Events, characters like Keqing and Xiangling get the back-burner of being reduced to silly light-hearted adventures that do not talk about their characters. Female characters have very interesting personalities and good lore to their stories that is only hidden away through character voice lines and Profiles. In terms of bias, there is no surprise that HoYoverse loves to let its male characters shine in these Limited Events.

Final Thoughts

Even though there is a clear bias towards the male fans in the Genshin community, it does not excuse the fact that there is a large number of female players in the community as well. Therefore, HoYoverse should consider its female player base as much as its male player base.
